After serving the Port of Plymouth for over twenty years, our pilot vessel Maker was due for some well-deserved pampering!

Over the summer, she received a full maintenance package at Berthon Boat Company, who are renowned for their expertise in vessel refits and repairs. The works included installation of a new man-overboard recovery platform to enhance our ability to recover people from the water, and a re-power with new, more fuel-efficient and HVO-ready Volvo Penta D6 marine diesel engines. These engines reduce our fuel consumption and increase transit speed (compared to the previous installation), enabling more efficient operations, and further support our aims for a more sustainable harbour. PV Maker now meets Workboat Code Edition 3.

Following a period of rigorous sea trials, PV Maker returned home to the Cattewater recently and resumed her duties, where she will continue to serve Plymouth for many years to come, along with PV Stamford.
