Superyacht Ulysses visits Plymouth

20 Feb 2025

Earlier this week superyacht Ulysses visited Plymouth. With a short stay berth on the Barbican Landing Stage combined with anchorage in Jennycliff Bay, the Dutch built Ulysses was certainly a sight to see both alongside and in the Sound.

At 102.6m in length she’s the biggest vessel to berth on the Barbican Landing Stage and attracted many interested onlookers!

Her crew, some local to Devon and Cornwall, enjoyed a couple of days enjoying Plymouth and visiting many of the city’s cafes, bars and restaurants – all welcome business for local eateries in the quiet winter months.  Many also took the opportunity to visit friends and family, who live in and around the Plymouth area.

Superyacht visits take resource and planning but their impact on the local economy is considerable for the time they are alongside on the Barbican Landing Stage – as Ulysses departed on Wednesday morning, she did so with a galley full of locally caught fresh fish and an overwhelmingly positive experience of the city and its hospitality.

Captain Richard Allan said: ‘It was wonderful to be able to accommodate the vessel. I was proud to see those onboard embracing our city, relaxing after a long Atlantic crossing. The Barbican Landing Stage facility, which provides a safe sheltered berth, the necessary security and services, in a central waterfront location is a real positive. Add in the support of my Harbour staff, and specialist superyacht agents MGMT, it was a very successful visit!”

The Cattewater Harbour team look forward to welcoming more superyachts, tall ships, cruise ships, and visiting sailing vessels throughout the year.
