Initiatives – Prosperity

We have started to quantify future needs required for us and our stakeholders to 2040, with exploration of options e.g. battery barges/electrical bunkering, on site generation and alternative fuels

We are exploring provision for our fleet, operations and assets, and supporting stakeholders with their own shore power initiatives to achieve a Net Zero port

We will continue to seek opportunities to support supply vessels for the offshore renewable sector – floating offshore wind (FLOW)

We have initiated a Threats & Opportunities Register to include Resilience and Business Continuity such as short sea container facilities

We continue to encourage alternative cargoes to support business resilience for the local economy including Neptune Park

We will continue to support sustainable seaweed farming by local business BluGreens which operates in our harbour area

We will continue to support and partner local marine autonomy operators to encourage diversification and upskilling

These can be improved as part of waterfront enhancements so would be considered with new developments to ensure climate resilience

It is recognised that port infrastructure is aging and requires investment to meet future port needs. We will support wharf modernisation and explore the developments that may increase use of the port and its surrounding areas. Water transport around the port is key and we will support any expansion and further routes within the Cattewater

We have a programme to drive leisure including use by local community plus promoting visiting cruise (Destination Plymouth) and superyachts, encouraging high quality attractions and waterfront, and leveraging our Marine Park with hospitality offerings and technology fan experience offerings

We continue to seek support from Great SW, Innovate UK and Levelling Up to invest into the port and Cattewater area
