Cattewater Harbour Vision
Cattewater Harbour is overseen by the Commissioners who collectively aim to maintain, preserve and enhance the Harbour for all users, present and future. Our goal is to create and protect stakeholder value and achieve sustainable growth. We provide robust governance and support the Harbour’s management team keep the port and the surrounding area safe, with an environment that is healthy and attractive. We aim to combat climate change and ensure that the port area continues to make a major contribution to prosperity and employment in Plymouth and the wider South West region.
Our Values
In practice this means we:
• Look after the port and river in a financially sound and environmentally sustainable way – we are custodians of the port and have a mandate to pass it on to future stakeholders in a better condition
• Enable growth, facilitating trade as well as leisure
• Act for the benefit of stakeholders.
Cattewater Harbour Commissioners’ Objectives
The Commissioners undertook a Port Strategy session in 2024 and defined the Harbour team’s broad objectives.
- Enhance the port’s community position as a multi-user facility
- Enhance the port’s competitive position as a logistics hub supporting diverse industries, and grow cargo activities sustainably
- Support the transition to sustainable energy for our customers
- Develop, manage and operate the port to deliver efficient, effective and safe services for shipping and other users
- Ensure the Cattewater remains an enduring proposition and destination of choice.
