This weekend Plymouth hosted two inaugural visits from two very different vessels.
On Saturday, luxury cruise yacht, the Evrima, part of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, arrived into the Sound early in the morning, where her guests, predominantly from America and Canada were tendered into the Barbican Landing Stage. Guests were welcomed by the city’s Town Crier along with a band of drummers, with Cruise Plymouth ambassadors ready to welcome and signpost guests for their time in the city.

As guests and crew arrived into the historic heart of Britain’s Ocean City, one crew member stated ‘that Plymouth’s guest welcome was second only to that of Puerto Rico’s’ and thanked the Cattewater Harbour team and ambassadors for providing such a warm, friendly first impression.
Deputy Leader of Plymouth City Council, Councillor Jemima Laing took part in the traditional plaque exchange on behalf of the Cattewater Harbour Commissioners, with the Evrima’s Captain, Captain Thomas Roth.

The Evrima returns to Plymouth next Saturday as part of her summer cruise programme.

Today, Piermaster Tony Lombari, Cattewater Harbour, welcomed Captain João Ciriaco and the crew of the Santa Maria Manuela, and gifted a plaque, along with a bottle of Plymouth Gin. The impressive historic 1937 Portuguese four-masted tall ship is berthed alongside on the Barbican Landing Stage, before departing this afternoon with guests embarking for a four day sailing experience to A Coruña, northwestern Spain.

Visiting vessel’s guests and crew enjoy, experience and add to the local economy when they shop, eat and drink within the city. Last night for example, the Santa Maria Manuela’s crew enjoyed Portuguese/Plymouth hospitality at A Taskinha in Union Street.

Cattewater Harbour looks forward to welcoming more vessels to Plymouth this summer.
