Early last Wednesday morning, whilst many were still asleep, all-inclusive luxury yacht SeaDream II, was piloted into Plymouth, and berthed alongside the Barbican Landing Stage. When her American guests woke for breakfast they were in the heart of the historic Barbican overlooking the Mayflower Steps, next to the newly decorated Commercial Wharf.
SeaDream II berthed alongside for the day whilst her guests explored the city. No cruise visit is complete without the Plymouth Cruise Ambassadors being on hand to greet, signpost and provide local knowledge to guests; and be welcomed ashore by the drummers and town crier, and Wednesday’s call was no exception.
Back on board, prior to departure the guests enjoyed a bespoke Plymouth Gin tasting experience all whilst being accompanied by a piper, before enjoying a sailaway under the September sunshine.
SeaDream II is owned by SeaDream Yacht Club, a family-owned company. Their Founder, Owner, and Chairman, Atle Brynestad, founded Seabourn Cruise Line in 1987 and later served as Chairman of Cunard Line Ltd. and as a board member of Carnival Corporation. When he envisioned SeaDream, he brought an uncompromising standard for what the luxury yachting experience could truly be.
Cattewater Harbour’s Evie Smith, responsible for cruise and leisure growth across the harbour, took part in the traditional plaque exchange with Captain Michael Macleod. The Captain followed up the visit saying that his guests ‘were raving about the call’.
This was the first visit to Plymouth for a SeaDream Yacht Club luxury yacht and we look forward to welcoming them back to the city in the future.
Just a day after welcoming SeaDream II to Plymouth, we were delighted to welcome back Ambassador Cruise Line’s Ambition for her second visit to the city this year. Her guests were tendered to the Barbican Landing Stage where they were free to explore the city, enjoy local hospitality and excursions.
These successful visits were made possible through close collaboration between the vessel Masters, Pilots, marine teams, VTS, and vessel agents, making it an exceptionally positive week for cruise in Plymouth.
