Cattewater Harbour Commissioners have welcomed the Baltrader owned vessel, Cemcarrier, on its inaugural visit to Plymouth – marking a significant milestone for the city’s commercial port and the wider South West construction sector.
At 113 metres LOA, Cemcarrier is the largest vessel ever to berth at Corporation Wharf, Plymouth’s dedicated bulk cement storage and distribution terminal. The vessel will help meet the region’s demand for cement, delivering thousands of tonnes of cargo that will go on to support housebuilding, road infrastructure and major development projects.
The Master and crew took part in a traditional plaque exchange for its inaugural visit, receiving a number of gifts from the Harbour Authority, including a bridge plant, a selection of treats, and most importantly, a box of freshly cooked local pasties for all onboard to enjoy.

“Cemcarrier’s first voyage to Plymouth was a multi‑agency effort involving Sanders Stevens as agents, pilots, marine teams, Plymouth City Council and Plymouth and South Devon Freeport, as well as vessel owners themselves, Baltrader.
“It is positive to see investment in new tonnage, and then the new tonnage choosing to trade here. Voyages like this take thousands of tonnes of cargo off the roads, reducing the environmental impact of road haulage.
