Update on Marine activities – COVID 19 lockdown

8 Jan 2021

We have received additional guidance relating to boating and leisure activities from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport for this period of COVID-19 Lockdown.

This guidance confirms that: “boating is allowed as exercise in England. This covers all sailing boats/yachts as long as they abide by the gathering limits, social distancing rules and stay local rules.” This does not include organised activity, which is not permitted apart from a few very specific exceptions listed in the guidance.

You must also ensure, in addition to the national guidance, that you follow the guidance of your berth operator (marina, mooring association) and you should check they are open and operational prior to setting out.

We urge all water users to follow the government guidance at all times and to always act within the spirit of the national lockdown.
